Workshop Description

This workshop is an extension of the presenter’s previous session on Normal and Atypical Speech, Language and Communication in the Preschool Years.   Participants will gain more in-depth information on specific communication challenges, and strategies that they can use within their own educational settings.   Specific emphasis will be placed on the following:

- articulation / speech sound production 

- disorders of the voice

- stuttering

- augmentative and alternative communication

- selective mutism 

- communication difficulties and differences in Autism

- feeding and swallowing

- hearing-related communication difficulties 

- specific strategies to facilitate communication 

PLEASE NOTE: This self-paced workshop includes a recording from Feb 2023. You will have access to the workshop immediately after registering for it, and be able to obtain a Completion Certificate after watching the entire workshop.

Audience: This workshop is geared toward supporting educators who work with children ages 0-6.

About the Instructor

Speech and Language Pathologist Shari Linde

Shari is the director of Advantage Speech-Language Pathology, a large group of therapists based out of Richmond, BC. Shari has been a speech-language pathologist since 1994, and has completed advanced training in Oral Myofunctional Disorders, the Hanen programs "More Than Words", "It Takes Two to Talk", and "TalkAbility", and the Meaningful Speech course on Natural Language Acquisition/Gestalt Language Processing. Shari is currently on the Board of Directors for Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC); she was the Chair of the SAC Board of Directors for the 2021-22 term.

    Certificates of completion will be available automatically upon completion of the workshop. We keep a record of all who register for this workshop. For ECE registry purposes, the instructor can verify the progress and completion of each participant in this course. Remember to download your certificate and any resources should this course ever be taken down.

  • Will this workshop be accepted by the ECE registry in my province or state?

    Ultimately it is up to the participant to ensure this workshop would be accepted by the ECE authority in their province or state. Each certificate of completion will include our contact information so that we can support educators to get their professional development hours.
