Workshop Description

In this workshop, we will explore the importance of free play in early childhood education and its impact on child development. We’ll discuss the benefits of free play, as well as the importance of following children’s interests to guide and extent their learning. We’ll also discuss the drawbacks of teacher-led, close-ended activities. For educators who may find free play challenging, I’ll provide practical tips to help them build confidence and comfort in conducting free play.

Meet Chris Yin Ren

ECE, Master of Education Chris Yin Ren

I am an ECE with a passion for co-working with young children and their families to create a learning environment that supports children's holistic development. I am also a mother of two children, which provides me a unique perspective that encompasses both the viewpoints of a parent and an educator. Before becoming an early childhood educator, I obtained my Master of education from SFU, and worked as a Chinese teacher in Great Vancouver for 8 years, which has endowed me with a distinctive viewpoint on bilingualism and the value of cultural variety in the field of education.
