Workshop Description

Stress is a natural part of life, but for young children and educators, it can significantly impact well-being, learning, and relationships. 

Participants will learn how stress affects brain development and behavior in young children. Identify signs of stress in themselves and children.  Explore mindfulness, storytelling, and play-based strategies to create a calmer learning environment. Develop self-regulation techniques to prevent burnout and enhance their ability to model resilience for children. Through real-life examples, engaging activities, and discussion, educators will leave with practical strategies to foster emotional strength and a more supportive learning environment.

About the Instructor

Meet Cameile Henry

CEO and cofounder of Strengthen Hands. College Professor Cameile Henry

Cameile Henry, MA, is the Program Coordinator and a Professor of Early Childhood Education (ECE) at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. As an ECE professor for sixteen years, she has facilitated numerous learning opportunities for students and educators. Her interest in supporting children and families led her to work as an ECE in childcare centers with diverse children and families for over 20 years. While pursuing her educational goals, Cameile became a foster parent as she wanted to continue supporting children who experienced trauma and stress. This experience invited her to have 15 foster children in her home, caring for and nurturing their development while providing for their physical and social needs.
